Dog Age Calculator
The '× 7' shortcut is wrong. Big dogs age faster, small dogs age slower, and puppies age fastest of all. Pick your dog's size and we use a size-adjusted model.
FAQ
Why isn't it just × 7? +
Dogs hit puberty by age 1 (≈15 human years) and adulthood by age 2 (≈24 human years). After that, the rate slows — and varies a lot by breed and size.
What's the most accurate formula? +
A 2019 UCSD study used epigenetic clocks for Labradors: human_age = 16 × ln(dog_age) + 31. We use a simpler size-weighted version here.
Heads up: ClutchCalcs gives you fast, accurate results — but always sanity-check critical decisions (medical, financial, structural) with a professional.
