Cookie Policy

Last updated: May 15, 2026

This page explains exactly what cookies and similar storage technologies are used on ClutchCalcs, who sets them, and why.

What's a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your browser. It can store preferences, session IDs, or analytics identifiers. There's also a related technology called localStorage, which is similar but stays on your device until you clear it.

Cookies we set directly

Name Type Purpose Duration
cc:favs:v1 localStorage Stores the slugs of calculators you've favorited (hearted) Until you clear it

That's the only one we set ourselves. Everything else comes from third parties.

Third-party cookies

Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics sets cookies like _ga and _ga_* to count and track visitors. Data is aggregated and used to understand site usage trends. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Opt out: install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.

Google AdSense

AdSense and its advertising partners set cookies to display ads, measure their performance, and (with consent) personalize them based on your interests. Common cookie names include __gads, __gpi, and IDE.

Opt out: visit Google's Ad Settings or aboutads.info to manage personalization across the ad ecosystem.

Consent management (EU/UK/CH visitors)

If you're visiting from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you'll see a consent banner the first time you visit. Your choices are saved in a cookie so we don't ask again every time. You can change your choices anytime — clear your cookies and reload, or use your browser's site settings.

How to clear cookies

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data → See all site data → search "clutchcalcs.com" → Delete
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data → search "clutchcalcs" → Remove
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data → search "clutchcalcs" → Remove Selected
  • Mobile browsers: Check your browser's site settings for clutchcalcs.com

Clearing cookies will also clear your saved favorites — they live in localStorage which is removed at the same time.

Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as opt-out of personalized ads and "sale/sharing" of personal data under CPRA. We do not respond to traditional DNT headers because the standard was never broadly adopted.
