Per floor or total? +
Per floor. Each floor needs its own extinguishers — coverage doesn't pass through floor slabs.
Mixed hazards? +
If a building has both office and shop areas, calculate each separately. Choose extinguisher rating appropriate to the higher-hazard areas.
2-A vs higher rating? +
5 lb ABC (2-A) is the cheapest but covers less per unit. 10 lb (4-A or 6-A) is the cost-effective sweet spot for most buildings.
