Why does galvanized differ? +
Galv adds zinc coating on top of the base steel. Same nominal gauge has more actual material than uncoated.
Aluminum gauge? +
Brown & Sharpe (B&S) gauge — different scale than steel. 16 ga aluminum is thinner than 16 ga steel.
