Fire Suppression

Kitchen Hood Coverage

Nozzle count for hood + cooking appliances. Based on Ansul R-102 / Pyro-Chem typical coverage. Final design requires the listed manufacturer's flow chart.

⚠ Manufacturer's flow chart is the design authority

UL 300 wet chemical systems (Ansul, Pyro-Chem, Range Guard, etc.) must be designed per the manufacturer's listed flow chart. This calc gives a planning-stage estimate \u2014 not a permit-ready design. Wrong nozzle placement = uncontrolled grease fire.

FAQ

Why is appliance nozzle count critical? +
Each cooking surface needs targeted protection. A deep fryer ignored by a nozzle misaimed at the range = uncontrolled grease fire fed by the fryer.
Plenum vs duct? +
Plenum nozzles protect the filter area inside the hood. Duct nozzles protect the exhaust collar where fire would otherwise spread up the duct.
Why UL 300? +
Modern listing for hood suppression that accounts for vegetable oils used in commercial kitchens. Pre-UL 300 systems (dry chemical) are obsolete and being phased out.
