What slope is code around a pool? +
IRC and most pool codes require positive drainage away from the pool — minimum 1/4" per foot (2%) for the first 10 feet. Many AHJs prefer 1/2" per foot on hardscape decks.
Why does drainage matter? +
Water trapped against the bond beam can refreeze, push tile, and crack coping. Standing water = mosquito breeding ground. Always slope away.
ADA slope? +
Walkways around the pool, if part of an accessible path, can't exceed 1:12 (1"/ft = 8.3%). Cross-slope max is 2%.
