Tree Work
Tree Weight Estimator
Estimate the whole-tree weight (trunk + branches) using DBH, total height, and species class. Useful for crane planning when the tree is coming down in one piece, or for residual brush calculations.

FAQ
How accurate is this? +
±20% for forest-grown trees. Open-grown yard trees with wide canopies skew heavier than the model assumes; tall slender forest trees skew lighter.
Why a cone model? +
A truncated cone is closer to reality but DBH-only estimators have to make a single-taper assumption. If you can measure mid-trunk diameter, use the log weight calculator on each section for better accuracy.
Is this useful for live trees only? +
For dead-standing trees, reduce by 15-25% to account for moisture loss. Avoid this estimator entirely for hollow or significantly decayed trees — visual cues will mislead you.
Heads up: ClutchCalcs gives you fast, accurate results — but always sanity-check critical decisions (medical, financial, structural) with a professional.
